Dear Students,
I hope this letter finds you well and ready to enjoy a well-deserved summer break. As you prepare for the upcoming school year, we are excited to offer you an opportunity to earn extra credit by staying engaged with your math studies over the summer. This extra credit work will help you keep your math skills sharp and give you a head start for next year.
Summer Math Extra Credit Plan

You will have the opportunity to continue earning extra credit by working on Delta Math. Your teacher has put together an assignment with the title similar to “summer math extra credit.” This platform offers a variety of practice problems and interactive exercises that will help you continue your math practice throughout the rest of the summer. You can choose which areas to focus on based on your interests or areas you want to improve, there is no exact order you have to go in.
Key Points:
- Start Date: Now : )
- Goal: Complete as many problems/skills as you can
- Time Commitment: Aim for about 20 minutes per week
- Access to Delta: You can use your school google account and all the links will be at the end of this document.
- All math should always be done on paper or white boards, so please use that when completing these problems even though it is an online program
How to Earn Extra Credit
- Delta Math: Continue working on as many problems as possible
- Consistency: Regular practice is key, so aim for about 20 minutes of math practice each week.

Summer Reading Work
ROBERT E. MELICAN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Reading done during the summer, like all reading experiences, enhances your development as a student and as a lifelong learner. Over the summer, you are encouraged to select books of your own choosing, or you may use the suggested author list from the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for English Language Arts and Literacy included below. To access books, consider using the Northborough Public Library or the Sora app. You are required to read at least one book over the summer.
Use the Google Form link to record all of your summer reading and complete a reflection on your favorite book. Your new ELA teacher is excited to learn about what you have read over the summer and is looking forward to working with you in the new school year!
