Dear Melican Families -

This Wednesday, October 8, at 6:00 p.m., caregivers will receive ParentSquare emails from teachers inviting them to sign up for Caregiver-Teacher Conferences, which are scheduled for October 22 and October 29 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. October 22 and October 29 will be early release days for students. We will dismiss students at 10:45 on both days.

Student athletes, student coaches, and support staff participated in the Titan Games at Algonquin today - students had a wonderful time!

Beginning next week, students who currently have Abby Rizzo for their special education liaison will transition to having Deb Williams (dwilliams@nsboro.k12.ma.us) as their liaison. Deb is a certified special education teacher who has worked as both a special education aide and a special education teacher at Melican.

Nursing Corner

We hope everyone is having a great start of the school year. In November, routine health screening for students will begin. Seventh grade students will be screened for hearing/ vision and height/weight. It is important to mention that these are screenings not diagnostic exams. If you would like your student excluded from these screenings please notify the Health Office prior to November 1, 2025.

All grades are screened for scoliosis. This year, there is a new procedure for scoliosis only. A Parent Square notice has been sent out with instructions on how to opt in for your child to be screened. Please fill out the form if you want your child screened. This too should be completed prior to November 1, 2025.

Please call the Health Office if you have any questions or concerns.

📌 Please note that all volunteers must have an up-to-date CORI form on file in the school office to volunteer. If you have not already done so, please stop by the main office to fill out and submit a CORI form by no later than Monday, October 6th.

More information about the RoadRUNner Ultimate Challenge will be shared soon, but for now, please mark your calendars and sign up to volunteer! We are counting on your energy to supervise stations, cheer on the students, and ensure the day is a BIG success!
