GRADE 6 REMINDER - OUTDOOR CLASSROOM

We are working with the PTO to plan our Outdoor Classroom overnight trip (see link for details) and need a sense of how many students plan to attend. In order for us to hold the trip, at least 75% of our students (146) need to participate.

Please see the informational email below from February 5:

Melican Middle School Informational Update: Grade 6 Overnight Trip

Dear Sixth Grade Families -

For the second year, Melican is heading to the Outdoor Classroom in Groton, Massachusetts.  We have scheduled our Outdoor Classroom field trip for May 20-22.  This trip is an overnight field trip; half of the sixth grade will stay Wednesday, 20th to Thursday, 21st and the other half of the sixth grade will stay Thursday 21st to Friday, 22nd.

The goals of this field trip are for students to connect, unplug, learn, and experience lessons in an outdoor setting.  Outdoor Classroom offers a variety of lessons from team building to nature and biology.  The administration and team leaders are in the planning process, working with the PTO to help defray the cost of the trip. More detailed information will be shared as our plans are finalized.  The cost at this time per student is approximately $300.00.

Thank you -

Christine Mesite and Kim Senior, Grade 6 Team Leaders

I am including this Google Form so we can get a sense for how many students plan to attend. Please respond to the form by Monday (3/9) at 3:00 p.m. only if your child(ren) will attend the trip.

We are currently at 65 YES responses to the form.
