Dear Melican Families -
Our Unified Basketball season concluded today with a game against our staff. This first-ever Melican Staff vs. Unified Basketball Game will be a tradition moving forward. Thank you to our athletes, student coaches, and staff coaches for a wonderful season! Our Pep Band sounded wonderful, and our student fans were encouraging, supportive and so excited.
Quarter 3 Grades will be shared with families at noon on Wednesday, April 22.
We wish you a wonderful week. The next Melican Memo will be shared on Friday, May 1.
Please reach out with any questions.
Respectfully,
Michelle T. Karb, Principal
Gretchen M. Bean, Assistant Principal

NURSING CORNER

With the warmer weather here, the Health Office would like to share a couple of reminders:
Remind your children to bring a water bottle to school and to drink water throughout the day. The school can get hot and dry, especially in the Spring. The Health Office doesn’t have water bottles but there are four water bottle refilling stations and bubblers throughout the school. During lunch, there are cups and water available to the students. Encouraging your child to sip water steadily throughout the day and drink more than usual if it is hot or they plan to be active is helpful in ensuring they stay hydrated.
Please remember to have your child put on sunscreen when going outside. Even when it’s not hot or sunny out, it is still possible to get a sunburn and do damage to our skin. Sunscreen and protective wear, such as a hat, are great ways to help prevent sunburn, skin cancer and skin damage.
Sixth Grade Caregiver Reminder: if you haven’t turned in a physical for your child to enter seventh grade, please do so or make the Health Office aware of an upcoming appointment. You should have received emails informing you of the requirements for entering Seventh Grade. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Health Office. To those who have already handed one in or informed us of an appointment, Thank You!
