Dear Melican Families -
With fewer than thirty school days left in our ‘25-’26 school year, we are beginning to plan for ‘26-’27. With that in mind, we are asking families to please let the office know if your sixth or seventh grader will be attending a different school next year. This information is helpful for our preparations.
Our MCAS series continued this week. All sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students completed their math MCAS and, next week, our eighth graders will take their Science Technology Engineering test.
The Melican Market was open this week. It will be open twice more before the end of the school year. Please feel free to donate and drop off any new school-appropriate items that students might like to earn. Thank you so much for your support of the market this year! It has been wonderful to acknowledge all the great work that our students do every day.
From our Music Department: Last weekend at the MICCA Solo and Ensemble Festival, six ensembles performed and received medals. Our sixth Grade Clarinet Duet received a bronze medal. Our Brass Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, and Flute and Oboe Quartet all received silver medals. And our Flute Quintet and Horn and Piano Duet with Grant Beckman and Bella Fang from Algonquin received gold medals. Also, at the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education Festival, our sixth Grade Stage Band and seventh and eighth Grade Jazz Band both received silver medals. Special shoutout to Anika Saras who received an MVP award for her excellent tenor saxophone solo. Congratulations to all who participated in these two events!
Please reach out with any questions.
Respectfully,
Michelle T. Karb, Principal
Gretchen M. Bean, Assistant Principal
