Dear Melican Families -
Our sixth graders had a wonderful time on their trip to Outdoor Classroom in Groton this week. Half of the grade attended on Wednesday and the other half on Thursday. Thank you to staff who planned and organized this engaging trip, to families for supporting the trip, to the PTO for their financial support, and to our students.
Thank you to Diane Hansbury and Kate Getchell for offering our students an opportunity to share their music and art talents at our Melican Music and Arts Showcase on Thursday - we have some very talented students and appreciate them for taking a risk and performing in front of their peers and families.
Our last MCAS testing sessions are scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday when our eighth graders will take their Civics MCAS. We appreciate the attention our students continue to give these state assessments.
If you intend to withdraw your student from Melican or if your family is moving to another residence within the District, please notify the school office. We are here to help guide you through the process of transferring schools or reestablishing residency, as needed. If you have questions regarding residency, please feel free to contact our Transportation and Registration Specialist, Sheila Hana, or reach out to the school office directly.
As we enjoy a three-day weekend, we invite you to consider the meaning of the holiday. Memorial day is a federal holiday to remember and honor service men and women who died for our country. Thank you to all of you who serve or have served, and to those who have lost loved ones who served.
Respectfully,
Michelle T. Karb, Principal
Gretchen M. Bean, Assistant Principal
